Same here, I do understand the few votes, but I would have expected to see at least a few more comments.MillieDynamite wrote: Mon Jul 13, 2026 12:27 am Congratulations to those who are advancing. Condolences to those who aren't. Hopefully, more members will read and vote on the next round. I was somewhat surprised at how few votes were cast overall.

I don’t intend to make this a quiet thing. We had two matches, and now you propose to invalidate the one of them?
For obvious reasons I’m opposed to that idea, to be quite frank the suggestion alone wants me to withdraw from this whole affair.

@RapeU I don't understand the suggestion to be honest. 1 vs 1 matchups just work like this and I think everyone was aware of this. You can't rob a contestant from advancing to the next round because another match up had a loser with a high rating.
Rule adjustments make sense if the situation necessitate them, like not enough people handing in a story for a round of 16 and thus starting with a querterfinal. That's not giving any contestant preferential treatment. But the semi-final played out exactly according to the initially announced rules. A tournament of 1 vs 1 matches always comes with the possibility that one match might end 30 to 29 while another ends 1 to 0. That might feel weird, but if that is a possibility we don't like, we shouldn't choose this type of elimination mode in the first place. But changing that after the round is over and punishing a contestant who played perfectly by the rules just because the loser of another match had a higher score is just... unfair.
So, as much as it pains me personally because I would've liked to see the other contestant advance to the next round in both matches, I think there is no way you change the elimination mode here without turning the whole thing into a farce.

Both of you are correct. I shouldn't have done that and just gone with what was originally said. Sorry about that.Claire wrote: Mon Jul 20, 2026 2:37 am @RapeU I don't understand the suggestion to be honest. 1 vs 1 matchups just work like this and I think everyone was aware of this. So @Shocker @Lucius @MillieDynamite @VictimEyes the final will be between @Dirty Sock and @Raven Smith

I wasn't suggesting a change to rules; I just thought, given that we have an extra week, a write-off between tied contestants would be fun. It wasn't necessary since they didn't tie. It wasn't really a suggestion for this event anyway. It was my mind typing before it thought about what it was typing. I'm really good at that.

@Shocker I never intended to insult you or anyone else. As I said, it was typed before I thought it through. I don't view writing as a competition, even when I'm in one. All I was thinking about was how different the two tales were, how well written they were, and how odd it was for poetry to be in a prose competition. I was enamored with the poet, and if it came down to who had the most three's was wondering what would happen if they tied in those as well. I didn't express it that way.
