I come away from reading Shocker feeling like gorgeous vintage 'The Hunt For Red October' naked Sean Connery will magically explode through the purple glow on my screen, extend his powerful arms under the skirting of my summer dress, lift me into the air by my buttocks, part my thighs (knowing full well that I wore no panties in anticipation of his visit), pin me against the wall and fuck me like he picked me up on a streetcorner!!!!!!! Mmmmmm!!!!!!!


I hope that we will later learn that militias from Catholic Ireland had previously allied themselves with the victorious Scots and sexy bad things are about to happen to the various duchesses and queens and princesses in London.

I have just a small gripe with the ending. You said this was a contemporary setting, or near future.
I can see soldiers going overboard and take revenge on the civilians. It is included in the whole "War" package.
But parading them naked and in the open. That is a fair bit more distopian.
Not that I don't like the idea. I very much like it.
I just felt that for this particular setting it was a wee bit too much.

I appreciate the vote of confidence. As for the setting, I never ruled out dystopian vibes, but wanted to make sure we aren’t relegating this kind of behavior to the past. Also depending on how you cut 5 years they can make a tremendous difference on what can be seen as happening in the world. The entirety if Ww2 only spanned 6 years, yet what was considered possible at the end certainly differed from 1939. Roughly the same era but other side of the world. In July 1937 Japan invaded China, in December the rape of Nanking (Nanjing) happened, and 4 years later the japanese Empire attacks Pearl Harbor.

I certainly don’t hope that occurrences like the ones I described, don’t happen any longer, but I would be wrong to say they won’t ever happen again. But it’s a fantasy story, so I’m just extrapolate from my kinks.

I agree, a lot can happen in a few years. With every year the war in Ukraine goes on I would wager the soldiers and civilians becoming ever more bitter and hatefull of everything russian.
The Japanese already hated the Chinese I think, and treated everyone poorly. But the Rape of Nanking was a particular ugly episode.
I guess I just didn't see the Scots hating the English THAT much
But then again , I don't see them going to war soon, so there is already a bit of alternate history involved, even if set in the near future.

But as I said: It is a minor point. I like the idea, I like the mental image.
And since I watched some russian, chinese and ukranian parades lately an idea is forming in my head...
