Especially once we reach the semi-final, 4 flash fiction stories can be read in the blink of an eye. We're talking ~15 minutes to read and rate everything. And we've seen over the course of the last three contests - Rashomon's Legacy, Rube Goldberg, Holiday Gangbang - that extending the voting and writing window did not lead to more engagement. On the contrary, we put the forum asleep with the incredibly slow pace and for the last 10 days or so of the contests barely anything happened.
I'll add to this. The Rube Goldberg Contest and Holiday Gangbang contest were proof of concept ideas. Would more voting time and more time to write help the forum? I thought it would generate more entries and more votes.

Instead the opposite happened. Within a few days of the Rube Goldberg contest ending most of the votes were cast. There was a long period of time when there were no votes. We had a few last minute votes towards the end, but nothing changed the outcome.

I changed the voting time of Holiday Gangbang to two weeks. Same thing happened. Within a few days most of the votes were cast with some last minute votes towards the end. The overall outcome didn't change after the first couple of days.

Wow, I actually had an idea for a competition entry last night (albeit a somewhat suitable one). The basic outline was quickly formed in my head. But when I started writing, I was surprised by how much I actually had to cut. Because this topic, too, could easily be expanded into a story of over 5,000 words.

@Evil Twin Number 3

The die is cast
The ball is rolling
The ink is splotted...?

Good luck!

League of extraordinary getlemen: @Shocker, @Lucius, @RapeU, @SoftGameHunter, @DayDreamNights, @AdmiralPiet, @LtBroccoli, @Blue

A quick reminder that you have this much time left before the stories will be put up for rating:

Timer Loading

And I want to announce the theme of the semi-final for those who want to take the risk to start writing before they know whether they make it to the semi-final:

The grass is always greener on the other side

For those not familiar with this proverb, you might find this site here helpful:

How you interpret this is of course be completely up to you, as always.

The quarterfinal of Ravished in a Flash has officially begun!

Remember, we are now having one vs one matches, so you can rate stories in the three matches you're not participating in without hurting yourself!

As of now, @YellowSnowDotCom and @Evil Twin Number 3 have not handed in a story yet. I know that @YellowSnowDotCom intended to do so on time, so I expect it to follow soon. And @Evil Twin Number 3 sadly had his laptop crash while writing the story and lost a ton of unsaved progress. But he wants to hand in his story later too, so please check it out even if it is late. I can only imagine how annoying losing his progress like that must be. :/

Good look everyone! I'm looking forward to reading what you wrote!

And my last post is already outdated. @YellowSnowDotCom just added his story. :)

Ravished in a Flash Quarterfinal

In the Ravished in a Flash quarterfinal we have four matches between two authors each. In each match, the author who scores a higher total rating for their story advances to the next round. So please rate the stories of the authors you would like to see it make to the semi-final!

Oh no!
That sucks.

Saving grace is that with flash fiction the amount lost is not too great.
I hope it works out!
